A couple weeks ago, I was chilling outside after a storm and I looked to my left and saw a freaking double rainbow. It was pretty amazing. I love the storms that we get out here. Even, though some of them are ridiculous. I've always had a desktop weather program and its kinda weird when I get notifications about high-tides and coastal flooding.

Anyways, I was feeling a little dark that day and dressed to my mood. It's easy to get down when you feel lost. Part of me wants to stay living with my dad and save my money and just go to Europe for like 4 months next summer and the other part wants to get my own place, plus another job and really start my life here...

Fashion Rant

Pants

Since, I'm not doing an outfit post today, I thought I'd rant a little about the trend of Not-Wearing Pants. I will be the first person to fess up to wearing short bottoms. Whether they are skirts, dresses or shorts. I understand fashion, but let me tell you, there's a limit. If people can see your vagina, it's too short. Celebrities like to not wear pants, and I guess they can get away with it. Hey, they're celebrities for a reason.  Taylor, you don't count as a celebrity. Plus, you're like 16 years old.

I understand wanting to look hott. Hell, everyone wants to look attractive. There's a fine line though between hott and well, slutty. I also, understand just not giving a fuck, which is how Taylor feels. She's been quoted. So, please lets remember pants before we leave the house. Oh, and I think leggins can count, as long as the shirt covers the camel toe.

KIDS are cute

Children

I've only been a substitute for 3 weeks now, but I've definitely learned some pretty basic things. Dealing with children everyday  takes a special soul. Well, either a special or demented. Some people don't know how to deal or talk with children. My experience doesn't just come from subbing; it also comes from years of being an older sister and always being involved with children.

1- If you let one kid do it, every kid has to do it.
         - This is a pretty simple concept, but it mostly extends to times when there are lots of children around. For instance, I let a boy move to another desk and then everybody wanted to move.

2- Always over estimate the amount of time needed for a kid to get ready.
-Little kids have a really weird concept of time. For them everything is happening in that one little moment. Saying something like "we're going to leave in 10 min." doesn't really mean anything to them.

3-Never judge a book by its cover, therefor treat all kids equally.
        - I always love it when a kid surprises me. It's easy to subconsciously form a opinion about someone based on their clothes or behavior, but you never know what someone can do intellectually.

4-Children will love you in a instant for just listening to them.
       - I love this picture of Obama. The story goes: The little kid asked Obama if he had hair like him. Obama didn't only say "Yes", he leaned down and let him see for himself. Absolutely adorable.

5-Always know when to draw the line or take a picture.
         - Again, another simple one. Children can be bad, like real bad. Sometimes, I don't even think they realize how bad. Even though, they can be terror on wheels, its important to try and smile and not take anything personal.

I'm so ready for fall. Even though I already layer a lot, I'll be layering even more.  So it seems my last entry was just too much for the Sailor. We ended things because if we weren't on the marriage path, he felt like he was wasting his time. Pfft. I didn't get my degree in Mrs. For now, I'm really going to focus on my career and getting money in the bank.

Be young.

Relationships

Apparently, I don't know how to be a girl-friend. My bf thinks that my actions and language say 'single'. I think my actions say 'relationship'. Isn't changing my relationship status on fb enough? JK.  Honestly, I feel like I'm doing enough. I'm not really sure how I'm supposed to act though. It has been almost a year since my last serious relationship. But it might just be bad timing for the Sailor and I.

It's hard to get close to someone who is going to be leaving soon. He leaves Oct. 2 for a close to 4-month tour. I've been dating him for 2 months. Only 2 months. I don't think I'm going to actively seek out someone. If I happen to stumble on something wonderful though, I'm not going to ignore it. I feel guilty for saying that. I'm just young and old at the same time. Almost 24. Jesus, that number is heavy. I'm still not ready to be tied down. I don't know if I'll ever be ready.
I still want to be wild and free.

P.S. I am in no way comparing myself to Marylin. I think she was in love with a man who couldn't be with her.  A completely different situation. But, isn't she just lovely?

A little encouragement

Politics

Dear Obama,

I still have faith in you. I just don't know if the rest of the people who voted for you two years ago feel the same way. I think you need to ignite the passion back into the people. The tea party has tons of passion, and the democratic party should start to emulate their resilience. I am thankful for everything that you have done for this nation. Health Care, ending the war in Iraq, and lowering taxes for the middle class are just a few of the things that have moved this nation into a more positive direction.

I know the problems in our Nation are not the cause of one political party, but it helps if things are kept in perspective. I understand that as a President your ability to change things only goes so far, the majority of the power rests in the hands of the House and Senate.  I look forward to the other changes that you will help bring and I will continue to support you. I just hope the rest of the nation can start to support you as our President and give you the respect that you deserve.

Sincerely,
Christina

Fairwell, Summer...

The official end of Summer is less than twenty days away.  In some ways, I'm not ready for summer to end, but I can't wait to go outside and not have my face covered by sweat after 5 minutes. Seriously, kids, I have sweated more here than I did in Oklahoma fo sho. One could argue that I came to Florida during the hottest months and that I left Oklahoma at its coolest. I am going to argue against that. My face never used to sweat, I could do Zumba like a crazy person and always have a dry face. I go running here and my face looks like its melting after 5 min. A good thing is that I've been drinking water like a mofo.

I've collected a few summer pictures to help you say, your goodbyes. This summer has been a blast and has definitely taught me some life lessons.
1) Never put all the bills in your name 2) Trust should be earned  3)Forgiveness isn't a given

Holy Crap

I have 2000 hits on my blog. Of course it hasn't been counting the whole time and it counts me every other day.
Thank you, everybody. Whoever, where-ever you are for taking the time to read my thoughts. I appreciate it and it makes me feel less alone in Florida.

First day of subbing. First official outfit post. I wore the gray cardigan over it, thinking I need to be modest, but there was one teacher who was wearing what looked like a bathing suit cover-up. I look kinda pissed in the last photo. I just developed a bad attitude at the end of the day. I also like how two of my tattoos are visible here. Today, I'm subbing a PE class. So, my outfit is work-out shorts and a nirvana shirt. I'm ready to get my fitness on.

Todd better watch himself...

I just found out that some bloke hit my mother. HIT. MY. MOTHER. Maybe, I shouldn't talk about it, maybe its just something thats a little too personal for the Internet. Domestic violence is something that can happen to the most unsuspecting couples. It's also something that should be talked about. The more people talk about it, the more light will be shed on the issue. My mother did call the police, but she didn't press charges because of his previous record. Thats right, a previous record kept my mother from filing a report against this POS. Of course she should have filled a report, but that's my mother for you. Always, being considerate and looking out for someone other than herself. Hopefully, my mother gets the help she needs to stay away from this guy. I love my mother and hate this person for what he did to her.

Does this image perpetuate violence? Perhaps, but some asshole hit my mom, and I'm not in a relationship with him..

Recently, domestic violence has been getting media attention because of the Eminem song 'Love the Way you Lie'. Some people say that the song glorifies physical violence. Although, if anyone were to sing about abuse, Rihanna and Eminem have some knowledge.  I don't think this song specifically glorifies anything, even though it could have been more clear about the dangers of abuse. The house catches on fire towards the end, but it still ends with Megan Fox and that guy from lost cuddling together. WTF? What message does that send out to young girls? It's ok if he hits you, you'll have great make-up sex. The media needs to be unified against certain things. Abuse is one of those things.

If you suspect someone you know is in an abusive relationship, speak out and if you think your in one yourself, get help. National Domestic Violence Hot line: 800-787-3224
