Lobbying on the HILL

(closest i got to Obama)

I came home and went to bed, around 7 p.m. and I just now woke up. Wow, its been a while since I've slept for 15 hours. It makes me feel like a teenager. :)

So the amazing trip:

The whole trip was such a learning experience, I met new people, learned new ideas and tried lots of new things. Everyday of the conference we learned about certain subjects, leadership, communication, ect. We had the nights free, which is when we roamed DC. I absolutely adore DC, beautiful city. Thursday we lobbied on the hill, and oh, jesus, was that nerve racking.

We're lobbying for a bill called the R.E.A.L. act which would be the first ever federally funded comprehensive sex education. We were asking for 50 million, abstinence currently gets 200 million. So, we just wanted a small portion. This act is amazing, its still abstinence based, but it teaches kids about everything else... I talked with a member of Tom Cole's staff, and she was pretty nice, and James Inhofe's staff, and he was a douche. He was checking his blackberry every five minutes, and we were only in there for about 10 min.

Then the icing on the cake was actually meeting with Tom Coburn. There were 4 girls present for this meeting, and only Molly (choice USA staff) and I spoke. The other girls froze. I don't blame them, he was very intimidating. He actually pulled out the pocket constitution within 5 minutes of our meeting, asking us if we were familiar with it. It was ridiculous. Essentially he wouldn't vote for the bill because he believes its a state matter, and not a national matter. Apparently, he didn't vote for the abstinence bill either. At the end of it, I asked for a picture.

I feel very proud to have met with my leaders on this issue. It's something that I'm passionate about, and feel like this is where I'm supposed to be in life, almost as if I've found my calling.

You say bitter, I say realistic

I feel as if I have much to say, but I'm tired of being a broken record. My life doesn't seem chaotic, it seems simple, and easy. I'm happy, and I love the people in my life. Really what else matters?

Its important to remember things like that. Although, someone very close and dear to my heart is away right now.

I miss my sister.

Its funny how connected you can become with one person once you open up and let them inside. Funny, how I haven't been able to do that with a boy, since, well.....Nick. Yeah, I would say Nick was the last guy that truly knew me. He was my first for a lot of things. Now, hes living in Georgia, and has a baby with girl who works as a bartender. Ha. Maybe they're happy, I wish them happiness.

Maybe you can be happy with just a man and a baby.

I can't. I need more. Maybe down the road, I'll have a child. But I don't plan on being married to the father. I'll be like Selma Hayek when she just had the child of the billionaire but wouldn't marry, they lived in separate cities. Her in New York and him in Paris, ahhh, that would be sweet. Although, important factors are in that equation: MONEY and TRUST.

I do know one thing for fucking sure.... I will be the hippie mother who puts her child in a bee outfit. :)

A conversation overheard at Bonnaroo 06'

A mother and son(about 4 yrs. old) are walking back to their tent and they pass a man selling some pipes

Son: I want to stop...
Mother: No, come on.
S: What are those, mommy?
M: Those are pipes, used for smoking Marijuana, but we don't do that....
-As they start to walk away-
S: But I saw daddy with one of those...

Ahh, that made me smile.

Men need clear instuctions....

Hmm....So, apparently everything needs to be laid out for men.
Nothing should be assumed. I thought that possibly, maybe I was a bitch for telling these boys how they should treat girls, but according to that guy, I'm not.
Thank god.

Cause, guys seem to need a lot help. Case in point: Guys come over to hang out with me and my younger sister, were eating pizza and whatnot. Well these boys have not had to get up to get anything, we got everything for them. (Maybe that was our first problem) But at the end of our meal, I asked "The Stoner" if he would put our plates up, his repronse ," Already?"
Implying that I was already asking him to do things....I got pissed off, and just put the plates up myself, then he went off saying how he was joking and what not.
My sister just gives him a dirty look, and he says to her, "well, its only our second date"
And her fucking response: "Doesn't matter, you should already be treating her like a princess"

Ahhh, I love her.
But its true, I mean, if your not polite, and helpful now......are you really going to change?

I'm not holding my breath.

You know the media could have something to do with the current state of men, and their respect level....maybe they just think you can buy her something shiny to make her forget your asshole ways.

Wakaka

So I'm leaving for wakarusa in like 12 hours. Totally excited. I really don't have much to say, except I plan on partying super hard for 3 days. Don't expect to hear from me.

I leave you with a pretty awesome dancing video.
